Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Happy Pet List at happypetlist.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our platform. Happy Pet List is operated by Open for Business, LLC, a California company.
Adoptable Pet Listings
Our free adoptable-pet search tool displays animal listings sourced from RescueGroups.org and participating rescue and shelter organizations. Happy Pet List does not own, verify, or guarantee the accuracy, availability, or adoption status of these listings, and is not a party to any adoption. All adoption inquiries and arrangements are made directly with the originating rescue or shelter organization.
Who May Use Happy Pet List
You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account or use our services.
Description of Services
Happy Pet List is an online directory that connects pet parents with pet care professionals, including dog walkers, pet sitters, groomers, veterinarians, and pet care businesses. We provide a platform for discovery only. We are not a party to any service agreements between pet parents and providers.
Pet Parent Terms
You may browse and search provider profiles, save providers to your account, and contact providers directly. You understand that Happy Pet List does not employ, endorse, or guarantee the services of any provider. All service agreements are made directly between you and the provider. Happy Pet List is not responsible for the quality, safety, or outcome of any services rendered.
Pet Professional Terms
By listing your profile, you represent that all information provided is accurate and up to date, you hold any licenses or permits required for your services, and you will update your profile promptly if your information changes.
Membership tiers: Silver (Free) provides a basic verified listing. Gold (Paid) provides an enhanced profile with priority placement, expanded information, and the ability to share specials and promotions.
Background Check Requirement: Individual hands-on pet care providers (including dog walkers, pet sitters, dog hosts, and drivers) are required to complete a background check before their profile goes live. Background checks are conducted by Checkr, Inc. The background check fee is $54.99, paid once. This fee is non-refundable regardless of the outcome of your background check. By proceeding to payment, you acknowledge and accept this policy.
Gold Membership: Gold membership is billed at $12 per month following any applicable free trial period. You may cancel at any time. No partial refunds are issued for unused membership time. Members who select Gold upon signing up and pass their background check receive 3 months of Gold membership at no charge, after which standard monthly billing begins.
Founding Gold Membership: Founding Gold members who join during our early launch phase receive lifetime preferred pricing as long as their membership remains active and in good standing.
Prohibited Conduct
- provide false or misleading information
- use the platform for any unlawful purpose
- harass or harm other users
- misrepresent your credentials or qualifications
Automated Access and Data Use
The provider directory, profile data, contact information, credential information, and all related content on Happy Pet List (collectively, "Directory Data") is proprietary to Open for Business, LLC and represents significant investment in research, curation, and verification. Directory Data does not include third-party adoptable-pet listings displayed through our free tools, which are owned by their originating organizations.
You may not, without express written permission from Open for Business, LLC:
- Access or collect Directory Data through automated means, including bots, scrapers, crawlers, spiders, or scripts
- Use any automated system to send requests to our servers at a rate exceeding that which a human could reasonably produce using a standard web browser
- Extract, copy, reproduce, or republish Directory Data in bulk or for commercial purposes
- Use Directory Data to build, supplement, or populate any competing directory, database, or product
- Circumvent any technical measures we implement to protect Directory Data, including rate limiting, CAPTCHAs, or access controls
Unauthorized automated access to Happy Pet List may violate the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (18 U.S.C. § 1030), the California Comprehensive Computer Data Access and Fraud Act (California Penal Code § 502), and other applicable laws. Open for Business, LLC reserves the right to pursue all available legal remedies, including injunctive relief and damages, against any party that violates this section.
Intellectual Property
All content on Happy Pet List is the property of Open for Business, LLC or its licensors. Provider profile content submitted by users remains the property of the user. By submitting content, you grant Happy Pet List a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content on the platform.
Disclaimers
Happy Pet List is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of provider listings, the quality of services, or uninterrupted access to the platform. Background check results reflect information available at the time of the check and do not guarantee future conduct.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Open for Business, LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Happy Pet List. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Open for Business, LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the platform, your profile content, or your violation of these Terms.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, provides false information, or engages in conduct harmful to our community, without prior notice.
SMS Messaging Terms
Happy Pet List (operated by Open for Business, LLC) may send SMS messages to users who have opted in. These messages may include account notifications, membership updates, provider activity alerts, and community announcements related to the Happy Pet List platform.
Opt-Out & Support
You can cancel SMS service at any time. Just text "STOP" to the number you received messages from. After you send "STOP," we will send a confirmation that you have been unsubscribed and you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to rejoin, sign up again as you did the first time. If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program, reply with the keyword HELP for assistance, or contact us directly at support@happypetlist.com.
Carrier Liability
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Message Frequency
Message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. Message frequency varies based on your account activity and preferences. If you have questions about your text plan or data plan, contact your wireless provider.
Privacy
If you have any questions regarding privacy, please read our Privacy Policy.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of California.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Your continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance.
